This research explored the opportunities for a coastal tourism destination community that was threatened by climate change to improve and strengthen social sustainability by employing collaborative planning strategies as an element of its long-term destination planning. During this study, historical information was collected from a range of media reports about Livingstone Shire, official shire reports, government reports and projected tourism attractions in Livingstone Shire, climate change and outcomes of climate action measures, decisions taken by climate action groups and organisations. Semi-structured interviews were conducted from twenty interview participants, and the dataset contains twenty semi-structured interviews.
