Full description
This collection comprises account-ready data for ecosystem capacity for grazed biomass for the Flinders, Norman and Gilbert (FNG) river catchments, developed in the ‘Ecosystem Accounting Pilots for Agricultural and Mixed-Use Landscape’ project, one of two Regional Ecosystem Accounting Pilot (REAP) projects delivering ecosystem accounts at sub-national scales. Capacity was estimated by applying the Crop and Livestock Enterprise model (CLEM) to pasture production simulated by AussieGRASS for all ecosystem states in four ecosystem types: ‘inland floodplain eucalypt forests and woodlands’, ‘wet-dry tropical eucalypt forests and woodlands’, ‘rainfall-pulse driven arid and semi-arid tussock grasslands’ and ‘Acacia woodlands and shrublands gidgee-type’ in the FNG that were mapped in Khan et al. (2023, https://data.csiro.au/collection/csiro:57814). Capacity estimates were compared under a scenario of all herd management options (destocking, supplementary feeding, and restocking breeders) versus no management actions, and under a range of herd sizes where the resulting pasture utilisation rates: 15%, 22.5% and 30%, were used to identify stocking rates that allowed the target herd to be maintained and did not result in changes in ecosystem state over 20 years. This collection includes the spatial extent of pasture growth, model simulation files, code for analysing model outputs, and charts, tables, and databases of model outputs under different herd management and utilization scenarios.Available: 2024-06-14
