Full description
This dataset provides the ACCESS-OM2 global sea-ice and ocean model output based on the historical experiment of the Ice Algae Model Intercomparison Project phase 2 (IAMIP2). IAMIP2 is a model intercomparison effort focused on algae that are attached to sea ice. The dataset follows the protocol described in Hayashida et al. 2021 and the IAMIP2 working group page on the COSIMA website.
This output consists of several global daily-mean 2D physical and biogeochemical ocean fields simulated by ACCESS-OM2 under the JRA55-do v1.4.0 forcing over 1958-2018.
The variables included in the dataset are:
detcos - Sea surface detritus carbon concentration
dfeos - Sea surface dissolved iron concentration
dissicos - Sea surface dissolved inorganic carbon concentration
fgco2 - Sea surface downward flux of carbon dioxide
intgp - Vertically integrated gross primary organic carbon production by phytoplankton
intpp - Vertically integrated primary organic carbon production by phytoplankton
intppbi - Vertically integrated primary organic carbon production by bottom-ice algae over grid cell area
intppos - Vertically integrated primary organic carbon production by phytoplankton over sea surface layer
mldts2t - Ocean mixed layer thickness defined by sigma-t
no3bi - Bottom-ice dissolved nitrate concentration over grid cell area
no3os - Sea surface dissolved nitrate concentration
parbi - Downwelling photosynthetic radiance flux at bottom ice over grid cell area
paros - Downwelling photosynthetic radiance flux at sea surface
phycbi - Bottom-ice algae carbon concentration over grid cell area
phycos - Sea surface phytoplankton carbon concentration
siconc - Percentage of grid cell covered by sea ice
sivol - Sea ice thickness (sea-ice volume divided by grid cell area)
snvol - Snow thickness (snow volume divided by grid cell area)
sss - Sea surface salinity
sst - Sea surface temperature
talkos - Sea surface total alkalinity
zoocos - Sea surface zooplankton carbon concentration
This dataset is an output of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Climate Extremes (CLEX) research program - Ocean Extremes.
