Brief description

The 1991 Census Time Series Community profiles present key tables from the Basic and Expanded Community profiles where the data is comparable across the censuses for Statistical Local Areas (SLA) in Australia. These profiles are made up of 22 tables giving data for both persons and/or dwellings from the 1981, 1986 and 1991 censuses.

This table contains data relating to the labour force status by sex. Counts are of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders aged 15 years or more, based on place of enumeration on census night which; includes overseas visitors; excludes Australians overseas; and excludes adjustment for under-enumeration. The data is by SLA 1991 boundaries. Periodicity: 5-Yearly.

This data is ABS data (cat. no. 2101.0 & original geographic boundary cat. no. 1261.0.30.001) used with permission from the Australian Bureau of Statistics. The tabular data was processed and supplied to AURIN by the Australian Data Archives. Please note:

* (a) Full-time is defined as having worked 35 hours or more in the main job held last week.

* (b) Comprises employed persons who did not state their hours worked.

* (c) Comprises persons who did not state their labour force status. In the 1981 Census persons who had a labour force status of 'not stated' were imputed to valid categories. This did not occur in 1986 and 1991. therefore the 1986 and 1991 'not stated' counts should be distributed for a valid comparison to be made.
