This data set spatially depicts commercial fishing blocks for the Tamanian abalone and commercial dive fisheries. Information is stored in selectable area polygons showing fishing block and sub-block numbers. The base data is currently held in GDA 94 geographic datum (i.e., Latitude and Longitude).
Commercial fishers submit their catch and effort data to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania (NRE Tas) for management, research and stock assessment purposes. The fisheries research is conducted by the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS).
