A Systematic Review of 50 Years of Eyewitness Evidence Research [Dataset]

Full description

The files consist of data collected for a systematic review of eyewitness evidence research published from 1975 to 2023 and the Excel outputs from the bibliometric/scientometric analyses conducted using VOSViewer and Leximancer software. This accompanies a publication titled A Systematic review of 50 Years of Eyewitness Evidence Research that aims to provide a useful analysis that academics and legal players can refer to when navigating the field. The dataset includes the metadata for 1,617 publications on eyewitness evidence, identified through stringent identification and screening methods. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guideline was applied to ensure transparency and reproducibility. Data was obtained through Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection using systematic Boolean searches and inclusion and exclusion criteria provided limits for the search. The metadata for all publications identified in the search was extracted, downloaded, and imported into Microsoft Excel. A coding dictionary was created and metadata was coded to the variable labels. The dataset was manually screened and cleaned. The Complete Dataset was used to conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses through Excel, VOSViewer and Leximancer software.
