By answering the questions in the survey, respondents helped the researchers understand farmer preferences relating to irrigation pump sets, with the aim of assessing current policies and potentially improving water access for farmers. The survey consisted of four main parts. Part A contained questions regarding the respondent's demographic and socioeconomic status. Part B included questions about the participants' influence in their community and their farm and household decision making. Part C contained questions about pump sets for irrigated farming. Part D included questions to understand participants' preference for pumps, i.e., the paired comparison experiment. The survey concluded with questions to ensure participants comprehended the study.
