The Richard McKenna collection was the result of a lifetime's passionate collecting, and by its scope and breadth has become a crucial part of the WA Museum's maritime collections and research. The images focus mostly on vessels connected in any way with Western Australia, and include McKenna's own images as well as those he traded with fellow members of the World Ships Society. The collection of resource material he avidly collected and compiled is extensive, including many rare published titles, personal correspondence and debates with experts around the world, large scrapbook collectons of contemporary newspaper material, and extensive personal transcriptions of rare records.Notes
