Full description

This series is comprised of volumes containing the minutes of meetings held by the Mitchell Shire Council.

The minutes have been handwritten into the volumes until 1922, when they began to be typed. Each set of minutes was signed by the President of the Shire, usually at the following meeting, when they were read and confirmed.

The minutes of every meeting usually included the following proceedings: Attendance, Confirmation of Minutes, Reports, Correspondence, Questions Without Notice and Motions Generally. At each meeting the Council variously received reports from the Finance Committee, the Shire Engineer, the Shire Clerk and the Shire Inspector.

The minutes document each decision the Council made, including matters concerning roads, buildings, bridges, sanitary concerns, public appointments, tourism and local business.
