Full description

This series is comprised of volumes containing the minutes of meetings held by the Borough of Wagga Wagga, later the Wagga Wagga City Council. The minutes were handwritten until 1923, when they began to be typed. Each set of minutes was signed by the Mayor, usually at the following meeting, when the minutes were read and confirmed.

Committees reporting to Council at each meeting variously included the Finance Committee (later the Finance and Resources Committee), the Works Committee, the Health Committee, the Parks Committee (later the Sports, Recreation and Gardens Committee), the Trading Utilities Committee, the Planning Committee, the Staff Committee, and the Community Development Committee.

The minutes of every meeting generally followed this format: Attendance, Apologies, Confirmation of Minutes, Petitions, Correspondence, Reports, Questions and Statements, and Motions Generally.

The minutes document each decision the Council made, including matters concerning roads, sewerage, buildings, bridges, local health, public appointments, tourism, and local business.
