Full description
The NCW Beadle Herbarium (NE) at UNE consists of c. 90 000 vascular plant specimens. The herbarium collection consists of a worldwide collection (with patchy coverage), concentrating on Australia, and with a very strong regional coverage of northern New South Wales, Australia, together with research related collections of plant specimens. The region of prime focus for comprehensive representation in the herbarium is the Northern Tablelands, North Coast, North West Slopes (Botanical Divisions) of NSW. The Western Plains and Central Western Slopes of NSW and South East Queensland are covered reasonably. There are several sub-collections of specimens in the collection: dried with silica gel; naturalised and cultivated plant gatherings; TYPE specimens (holo, neo and mostly isotypes); and specific locations or reserves/National Parks, in NSW.
The specimen sheet collection of the N.C.W. Beadle Herbarium is databased and available to registered users for online data entry and data query. Records include most standard herbarium label fields (see http://www.une.edu.au/herbarium/collecting.php) as used across Australia (e.g. http://www.anbg.gov.au/cpbr/herbarium/collecting/field-note-book.html) including name, collector(s), locality and habitat.
