The Institute for Culture and Society at Western Sydney University researches transformations in culture and society in the context of contemporary global change. It champions collaborative engaged research in the humanities and social sciences for a globalizing digital age. The Institute is the largest dedicated research concentration of its kind in Australia.
The Institute for Culture and Society has four research programs responding to key challenges facing contemporary culture and society:
- Cities and Economies
- Digital Life
- Diversity and Globalisation
- Heritage and Environment
The Institute also hosts two programs in the government-funded Young and Well Cooperative Research Centre, led by Dr Philippa Collin and Associate Professor Amanda Third. This Centre conducts research into how digital technologies can be used to increase wellbeing and happiness among young Australians.
