The Gundagai Court of General and Quarter Sessions was established on 6 July 1859 (1). The role of the Court of Quarter Sessions was to hear less serious criminal cases. The dates of hearings at the Gundagai Court were proclaimed in the NSW Government Gazette. The Courts of General and Quarter Sessions were arranged into districts. The Gundagai Court began in the Southern District until it was transferred to the South-Western District in 1861. Gundagai Court remained in the South Western District until it was abolished as from 1 January, 1918 (2).
