Full description

Video analysis of feeding strikes of Labropsis australis on coral

Two individual fishes were used in this analysis: La1 (as in Labropsis australis #1) and La2. Sequences may have 1 or multiple strikes.

These observations were made in an enclosed tank, and were filmed with a Sony RX100IV camera at either 500 or 1,000 frames per second. The duration of each phase was measured by counting the number of video frames in VLC and these values were subsequently converted to milliseconds (ms) by dividing them by 1 (if video was shot at 1,000 fps) or 0.5 (if video was shot at 500 fps). Corals fed to the wrasse were Acropora tenuis, Acropora spathulata, or an unidentified coral (Acropora sp.).
