These registers contain a periodical called the Dentists' Register', printed and published under the direction of the Dental Board of Victoria. From 1888-1920, the registration details were in a stand-alone publication, however, from 1920, they became part of the Victorian Government Gazette. From 1996-2000, the Registers appear to contain a printout of the Dental Board's database of registrations, rather than the published Gazette copy. The following years are missing: 1899, 1905, 1907, 1908, 1910, 1984, 1990.3. Registrations 1928. This is a record of when the Certificate of Registration was posted to recipients. Shows names and dates.4. Record of Certificates of Registration, dated 1888 - 1939. This bound volume lists the names and addresses and receipts for certificates of registration as a dentist and in some instances Licentiates of Dental Surgery.5. Initial Registrations Restorations Late Payments FACDS Further Particulars. Consisting of four day books, they contain the following information:Date, Registration Number, Name, Address, Qualification, Receipt Number, Restoration, Melbourne Graduate, Other State or Country, Late Payment, Remark and Number, Additional Qualification, Last Regulatory Authority, Sex.6. Dentists Archived and Restored from 1/10/91. Full description

The registers are volumes containing the names of dentists registered with the Dental Board of Victoria. As stated in section 10 of the Dentists Act 1972: "A register shall be kept by the registrar to be called the Dentists' Register which shall contain the full names (arranged in alphabetical order according to surname) and addresses of all registered dentists and the description and date of the qualifications in respect of which they are registered". There are several types of registers in this series, all containing similar information.

1. There are 3 handwritten registers from 1888-1966. The registers have alphabetical indexes, and contain the following handwritten information:
Registration Number, Name, Address, Qualification, Other Particulars.

Registration Number, Name, Address, Date Initially Registered, Renewed to, Date Archived, Reason Archived, Renewal Notice Sent, Date Restored, Reason Restored, Title.
