Data is owned by the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) and the Victorian WorkCover Authority (VWA). Agreements are in place between ISCRR, TAC and the VWA to enable the sharing of data for research purposes only.

The datasets are available on request for research purposes only. Note that all requests are processed in accordance with the data access policy (http://iscrr.com.au/media/29273/ISCRR%20data%20access%20policy_FINAL.pdf). A steering committee comprised of the VWA, TAC, ISCRR and Monash University staff oversees the operations of this important database and reviews all requests for access to data. The Compensation Research Database (CRD) consists of the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) and Victorian WorkCover Authority (VWA) claims data. Transport-related injury claims data from 1 January 1987 through to 31 December 2010 were obtained from the TAC: this database contains one record for every claim received by the TAC since its establishment in 1987, and each record contains information necessary for the management of the compensation claim, including accident, demographic, injury details, and payments for health and other services. Workers’ compensation administrative claims data from 1 January 1986 through to 31 December 2011 were obtained from the VWA: this database contains information necessary for the management of the workers’ compensation scheme, including industry, occupation, employer, workplace, demographic, injury, claim cost and payment data.

SQL Server database, containing a number of datasets: TAC Claims (501,1521 records, covering 1987-2011, with 45 variables); TAC Payments (30,081,807, covering 1992-2011, with 20 variables); Worksafe Claims (1,809,811 records, covering 1986-2011, with 102 variables); WorkSafe Payments (63,265,326, covering 1986-2011, with 16 variables); WorkSafe Services (77,029,783 records, covering 1987-2011, with 15 variables); WorkSafe Medical Certificates (9,034,544 records, covering 1986-2011, with 21 variables); and WorkSafe Hospital Admissions (375,076 records, covering 1986-2011, with 10 variables). Note that the numbers above are a snapshot in time (2012) and they change at least annually.
