These files relate to such matters as contracts for the building or sale of trams and buses; the construction, sale and lease of proposed and existing tram and bus depots, work shops and tram lines; the resumption of land for the construction of tram lines; the conversion of tramways to bus operation; buildings built on leased bus and tramway land; major alterations to bus and tram services; major public works; the Sydney Regional Transport Study and the proposed Wollongong, Newcastle Transport Studies; bus and ferry ticket systems; the hiring of private buses in areas serviced by government buses; the conversion of government bus services to private enterprise; the formation of the Public Transport Commission of New South Wales; proposed amendments to Acts of Parliament; minutes of committees; and major industrial agreements and disputes.

The files contain papers dating from as early as 1897.
