Seasonal variability and trends in modelled water flows, stores and levels are considered at the regional level. Details for selected rivers, wetlands, groundwater, urban areas and agriculture are not addressed. At the time of writing, suitable quality controlled and assured surface water quality data from the Australian Water Resources Information System (Bureau of Meteorology 2011a) were not available. It begins with an overview of key data and information on water flows in the region in recent times followed by a description of the region. Key data and information The assessment presents the 2009–10 annual landscape water flows and the change in accessible surface water storage in the Carpentaria Coast region. The region experienced above average rainfall and evapotranspiration for 2009–10 and the high rainfall resulted in very much higher than average modelled landscape water yield1. The reported surface water storage in this region is Lake Julius (only 26 per cent of the total storage capacity in the region). Other main storages in the region that are not reported include Lake Mitchell and Lake Moondarra. The decrease in accessible volume, over the year given that this was a wetter than average year, was due to some deliberate releases from storage during May 2010. &rft.creator=Anonymous&rft.date=2013&rft.relation=http://www.bom.gov.au/water/awra/2010/documents/summary.pdf&rft.relation=http://www.bom.gov.au/water/awra/2010/carp.shtml&rft.coverage=Carpentaria Coast&rft.coverage=142.5575,-10.7275 142.1351,-10.9500 142.0375,-12.0400 141.5924,-12.5551 141.9626,-12.5850 141.5825,-12.9950 141.7399,-13.3225 141.4675,-13.8550 141.6600,-15.2275 140.8375,-17.4776 140.0000,-17.7151 139.2451,-17.3275 139.0401,-16.9125 136.7076,-15.9325 136.7251,-15.6974 135.4675,-14.9674 135.3299,-14.7075 136.0825,-13.6625 135.8825,-13.7200 135.8900,-13.3150 136.3325,-13.0400 136.4701,-13.2476 136.4524,-12.9799 136.6676,-13.0025 136.4649,-12.7801 136.9251,-12.2775 136.3400,-12.7801 135.6475,-12.7125 134.8825,-13.8425 134.2375,-12.9924 133.6025,-13.4375 132.6374,-14.5699 132.8975,-14.9750 132.5674,-15.0101 132.7724,-15.6750 132.6200,-16.5450 133.3125,-16.5850 134.0026,-16.1425 134.0900,-16.4250 134.6249,-16.4175 135.5250,-17.3951 136.5099,-17.3051 136.8375,-18.3199 137.5151,-18.6251 137.8151,-19.3574 138.5425,-19.9276 139.1200,-19.9000 139.3900,-20.8899 140.9075,-21.7799 141.9075,-21.4901 142.5125,-21.7351 144.3674,-21.1274 144.9774,-20.3475 144.2251,-19.6074 144.7701,-19.1475 144.6676,-18.4474 144.9949,-17.6074 145.4374,-17.3051 145.5149,-16.6500 144.7376,-15.8899 143.8750,-15.8300 143.3026,-15.1925 143.3900,-13.3324 142.6374,-12.1800 142.8151,-11.3800 142.3700,-11.0650 142.5575,-10.7275&rft.coverage=136.730000,-13.662500 136.346226,-13.831287 136.325000,-14.245000 136.950100,-14.305100 136.705000,-14.167500 136.925100,-13.807400 136.730000,-13.662500 136.730000,-13.662500&rft.coverage=139.552600,-16.392500 139.177772,-16.486714 139.099575,-16.780839 139.314629,-16.746402 139.463766,-16.685652 139.712600,-16.532500 139.679292,-16.415095 139.552600,-16.392500 139.552600,-16.392500&rft_rights=All material provided by the Bureau of Meteorology is covered by Copyright notice.&rft_rights=Unless otherwise noted in the list of licensing agreements (see Licensing folder), all material is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution Australia License&rft_subject=Australian hydrological geospatial fabric&rft_subject=Australian water resources assessment&rft_subject=environmental intelligence&rft_subject=groundwater&rft_subject=landscape modelling&rft_subject=water balance&rft_subject=Landscape water yield&rft_subject=Agricultural Hydrology (Drainage, Flooding, Irrigation, Quality, etc.)&rft_subject=AGRICULTURAL AND VETERINARY SCIENCES&rft_subject=OTHER AGRICULTURAL AND VETERINARY SCIENCES&rft_subject=Surfacewater Hydrology&rft_subject=EARTH SCIENCES&rft_subject=PHYSICAL GEOGRAPHY AND ENVIRONMENTAL GEOSCIENCE&rft_subject=04060&rft.type=dataset&rft.language=English Access the data

Full description

This assessment and related data examines water resources in the Carpentaria Coast region in 2009–10 and over recent decades.

The region experienced above average rainfall and evapotranspiration for 2009–10 and the high rainfall resulted in very much higher than average modelled landscape water yield1. The reported surface water storage in this region is Lake Julius (only 26 per cent of the total storage capacity in the region).
