Argenton Infants School in the County of Northumberland was established in January 1951. In January 1953 the school was converted to a Public School. A Public School is a basic elementary school in the NSW education system which offers primary level courses.
The Department of Education referred to this place as Argenton (2) to distinguish is from another Argenton in the County of Buckland where a provisional school had been conducted from 1891 to 1892.
A public school had previously been conducted at Argenton (2) from 1897 to 1903. (2)
As of 2014 the Argenton Public School was still open. (3)
