Brief description (ARC/NHMRC Research Network Fluorescence Applications in Biotechnology and Life Sciences) The Network will accelerate frontier biological systems research and integrate it across the disciplines. It will stimulate the development of new industrial applications of fluorescence for the benefit of the Australian economy. Interactions of the Network with business communities will align research agendas with industrial needs, and improve the uptake of emerging fluorescence-based technologies. As a result, the Australian community will gain access to improved public health diagnostics and quality of foods and water. The Network's investment in professional training will offer graduates a cross-disciplinary awareness and an industrial perspective to applications important for internationally competitive science and industries.
