Andre Bazin was a pre-eminent and prolific film critic and film theorist. In 1951 he was the co-founder of the French journal Cahiers Du Cinema. Bazin's writings were highly influential on a generation of filmmakers including Francois Truffaut and Jean-Luc Godard, and his analyses were highly regarded by the likes of Robert Bresson, Luis Bunuel, Orson Welles, Jean Cocteau and Federico Fellini.
