Full description

The inaugural meeting of the Academic Advisory Committee of the Riverina College of Advanced Education (RCAE) was convened on 27 March 1972. (1) By December of the same year however, the Committee’s name was changed to the ‘Assessments Committee’. (2) The main role of the Committee was to maintain a uniformity of standards across the College in regards to assessment procedures. As such, the Assessments Committee reported directly to the principal academic body of the College, the College Board, on all matters relating to assessment procedures. (3) The terms of reference for the Committee, as approved by the College Board were:
- to make recommendations to the College Board on all matters pertaining to the assessment of students including the progress of students who did not perform satisfactorily;
- to determine restrictions and conditions to be placed on a student’s continued enrolment as a result of poor academic performance. Such restrictions and conditions may be imposed without reference to the College Board except where a new policy is established or when a student is excluded;
- to consider all matters referred to it by the Principal, a Dean, schools, a Board of Study or the College Board. (4)
The final meeting of the RCAE Assessments Committee was convened on 17 June 1982. (5) After this date, the Committee was disbanded and replaced by the Admission and Assessment Committee. (6) Endnotes:
