Full description

The data provides a representative quantitative snapshot of the characteristics, capacities and constraints of Australian teaching and learning centres as seen through the eyes of their Directors. It provides evidence-based information for sector benchmarking and policy design, and identifies factors that contribute to the effective startegic leadership of Australian teaching and learning centres.

Notes

The data was collected via an online survey which asked twelve questions. Participants in the survey were Directors of  Australian university teaching and learning centres in 2009. Survey responses were received from 31 of 38 centres invited to participate. The survey focused on the key issues of the provision of academic professional development for sessional and ongoing faculty teaching staff, and the provision of academic professional development for leaders in teaching and learning. The data was processed and analysed using Microsoft Office Excel software.

The data is organised by numbered questions used to collect data in the following areas:
• Centre and Director demographic/background information;
• Centre functions, including importance and satisfaction;
• indicators of Centre success, including capacity and capability;
• constraints on achievement of Centre objectives;
• key Centre relationships, including importance and satisfaction; and
• an assessment of Centre recognition and inclusion.

Data time period: 2009 to 2009
