Full description
The Board of Fire Commissioners of New South Wales, with assistance from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, produced annual fire statistics, based on data collected by its Brigades, from 1964 until 1980 (1).
This series comprises computer-printed reports which contain statistics on the operations of the Fire Brigades. Some of the statistics recorded include: number and cause of fire, false alarms, time elapsed from arrival of fire brigade to control of fire and extent of damage.
Due to Federal Budget restraints, the Australian Bureau of Statistics assistance in computerising the data was withdrawn in 1981 (2). Data continued to be collected, but no comprehensive statistical reports were produced until 1985 (3) with the beginning of the Annual Statistical Reports of the New South Wales Fire Brigades (NRS 486).
