Full description

This series comprises the actual lease documents for various Western lands leases which have been cancelled or surrendered. They show the original lessee and subsequent transfer details, where applicable, and, in some cases, change of boundaries and resumption of land as determined by the Minister for Lands.

The leases include homestead leases (H.L.), pastoral leases (P.L.), improvement leases (I.L.), artesian well leases (A.W.L.), residential leases (R.L.), settlement leases (S.L.), inferior land leases (I.L.L.), and scrub leases. Also included are various special leases, granted under section 32 of the Western Lands Act of 1901, allowing additional leases of land, and leases granted for the purposes of grazing, irrigation, market gardens and the erection of stores and inns.

Arrangement is numerical by Western lands lease number.
