The General matters ("C") files are the main correspondence series maintained by the Health Department's Central Administration which relates to matters affecting the Department generally, rather than a specific branch.
These matters include: amendments to health legislation; inquiries into hospital administration and procedures; appointments of members to Boards and Institutes; Committee meeting minutes; funding of community health programmes; nurse education; registration of chiropractors, acupuncturists and psychologists; Aboriginal health policy; extensions to hospital buildings; deaths under anaesthesia; electro-convulsive therapy and psychosurgery; ambulance services; medical fees; pharmaceutical benefits; tuberculosis policy; Australian Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service; abortion; drug rehabilitation; mental health services; and care of the aged.
The majority of this series is made up of files arranged numerically, it also contain some audiovisual material containing corporate show reels and health promotion tenders.
