Full description

This series records the purchasers of land in towns offered at auction by the Crown. The first unit records purchasers in the County of Bourke (centred on Melbourne) and the second unit records purchasers in the County of Grant (centred on Geelong).

Space is given for the recording of the allotment (given as a number), the section (a number), the area (given in acres, roods and perches), the names of purchasers, the dates upon which the land was gazetted (as being for sale) and sold, remarks and the number of the plan. Records of sales were recorded from the Sale Book with those details being noted in the register. Land granted or reserved for special purposes (such as churches, schools or reserves) was indicated.
