Commonwealth and State Ministers Conferences, more commonly known as Premiers Conferences were held on an annual basis as a forum for discussion between the Commonwealth - represented by the Prime Minister, and the Premiers of each State. The convention discussed issues relating to the co-ordination of Commonwealth and State powers. Such issues included Commonwealth finance and taxation and its appropriation by the States, the co-ordination of Commonwealth and State legislation, and Commonwealth and State defence strategies.
This series consists of published transcripts of these conferences, which were maintained by the Secretary of the Premiers Department.
