This series consists of the terms of reference and a number of documents containing general information about the operation and processes of the Royal Commission into Family Violence (RCFV). They were published to the Commission's website during the course of the Commission.

The Letters Patent and Terms of Reference, written by the Honourable Alex Chernov AC QC, the then Governor of Victoria, is a document that appoints the three commissioners, and sets out the background issues and conduct of the inquiry, with reference to relevant Acts. There is also an Amendment to the Letters Patent in this series. This was the first royal commission to be established and conducted under the Inquiries Act 2014 (Vic).
