Source Information: The two primary information sources used to locate and attribute the terminals were the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission's December 2010 report entitled Monitoring of the Australian Petroleum Industry and the Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism's August 2009 report entitled Petroleum Import Infrastructure in Australia. The terminal name, owner and operator were obtained from these reports. Due to the large size and distinctiveness of the features, they were easily identified from imagery. Publicly available information from owner/operator websites was used to confirm the locations and complete the attribution of the features (these sources are listed in the ATTRIBUTESOURCE field, were appropriate). Polygons representing the extent of the entire facility were digitized to create a Liquid Fuel Terminal Areas feature class. The point feature class was derived from the polygons by using FME to generate a single point within each of the terminal polygon features. These points are in most cases centroids and have identical attribution to their corresponding polygon.&rft.creator=Carter, L &rft.creator=Kay, R. &rft.date=2012&rft.coverage=northlimit=-10.591379; southlimit=-42.84751; westlimit=114.595038; eastLimit=153.163689&rft.coverage=northlimit=-10.591379; southlimit=-42.84751; westlimit=114.595038; eastLimit=153.163689&rft_rights=Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0&rft_subject=geoscientificInformation&rft_subject=Database&rft_subject=GIS&rft_subject=energy infrastructure&rft_subject=risk assessment&rft_subject=risk analysis&rft_subject=infrastructure&rft_subject=National dataset&rft_subject=AU&rft_subject=Build Environment and Design&rft_subject=Published_External&rft.type=dataset&rft.language=English Access the data

Brief description

This dataset contains the Liquid Fuel Terminal locations in Australia.

Lineage

The terminals dataset was digitized in 2012 from orthophotos and satellite imagery held within Geoscience Australia. Image resolution ranged from 0.15m to 2.5m.

Source Information:
The two primary information sources used to locate and attribute the terminals were the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission's December 2010 report entitled Monitoring of the Australian Petroleum Industry and the Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism's August 2009 report entitled Petroleum Import Infrastructure in Australia. These points are in most cases centroids and have identical attribution to their corresponding polygon.
